L.S. from Florida I never really heard much about STDs growing up. Most of the time it was from jokes my friends made. I broke up with my boyfriend, not long after going to school and found myself in the college dating scene. I dated a few guys, but really didnt think much about it. But, one day there was a table at the student center and I saw some information on Chlamydia, an STD. The girl at the table explained that I may not have any symptoms, but, still could have an infection that could make me unable to have kids later in life. So, I decided to get tested, and was positive for Chlamydia. I was treated and ok, but, really shocked that you can be infected with something and really not know. --- It was a real wake up call for me. I am very careful now and take steps to be sure I protect myself. I just thought I would share my experience and encourage others to be safe and understand the STDs that are out there. |
